Summer semester 2026
The focus in summer semester 2026 in digital arts studio was on technological twists on scientific phenomena. The students created works on a rich selection of various topics: the thermodynamic death of the universe, parasitic relationships between insects, geometric patterns in nature, fungi, molds, body decomposition in peat, radioactivity and many more.
We invited guest speakers to tackle this assignment from both scientific and artistic perspective:
Samuel “Vedátor” Kováčok is a physicist with the most popular science popularization podcast in Slovakia. He spoke about chaos theory and how we can find it in everyday life.
Alice Bucknell is world-renown digital artist who gave an inspirational overview of their art works related to quantum physics, ecology or zoology
M. Beatrice Fazi, a philosopher from University of Sussex discussed her work in the philosophy of computation, the philosophy of technology and media philosophy.
Students’ artworks were presented during Inspection (or “prieskum” in Slovak). It is a public exhibition of all art studios at AFAD which are open during one weekend and everybody is invited to “inspect” our studios and our students’ artworks.
